Pastor Stephen Nordbye came to Charlton in 1987 to serve this growing congregation as its first associate pastor. He and his wife Valorie both arrived with broad experience in college ministry, which Val (MA Denver Seminary, DMin. Bethel Seminary) continues to pursue as National Director for Campus Ministries with Missions Door.
In 2005 Steve was called by the church to serve as Senior Pastor. He holds degrees from Colorado College, Denver Seminary, and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. When not at the church, Steve may be found at the YMCA fitness center trying to slow down the aging process.
The Nordbyes are the parents of Erik (currently in Boston pursuing a doctorate ) and Kari (interning at Mission E4 in Hubbardston MA)
Trevor Berg grew up in the church until going off to college at Anderson University in South Carolina. After graduating with a Bachelors degree in Christian ministry – with a concentration in youth – he accepted a position as the youth director of the church in 2013. In 2014 he was married to his wife Lauren who is a Veterinarian Technician in the area. He is currently working towards his masters in divinity from Anderson University.
Brian can’t remember a time when he did not believe in the reality of God and the trustworthiness of Scripture. He usually dates his conversion to when he was clearly presented at age 12 with the claims of Jesus Christ on his life. God led him to Gordon College, then to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (MDiv) and Westminster Theological Seminary (ThM, PhD). He served for 14 years in the pastoral ministry in upstate New York and Philadelphia, and more than 30 years as professor of biblical studies at (Bethel) Seminary of the East and now at the New England Christian Study Center. Semi-retired these days, he has the joy of pursuing part-time ministries training and equipping God’s people, including discipleship and spiritual formation here at CBC. Brian is happily married to Helen, his wife and life companion of more than 40 years, and together they have four children and six grandchildren.
