Child Protection

Charlton Baptist Church takes the protection of children very seriously. We have adopted a Child Protection Policy that governs the procedures we take to screen and train those working with children and the procedures that our children and youth staff and volunteers follow.

Children’s Church

Children’s Church takes place during both the 8:30 & 11:00 services on Sunday mornings.

8:30 Service (PreK-6th Grade)     |     11:00 Service (PreK-3rd Grade)

Families begin their worship together upstairs in the sanctuary and then the children are dismissed into their classes for Children’s Church. Hands-on lessons involving: crafts, games in the gym, drama, music, and other activities help teach the children about God in a meaningful way.

Sunday School

Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. between our two worship services Sunday school is available for all ages, nursery through teen and adult. Children learn about the historical Jesus, his love for the world, how to have life in his name, and grow in his grace and goodness. Children growing up in Sunday school at Charlton Baptist Church learn how to discover God’s truth and design for their lives through the Bible.

Nursery (0 – 3 years)      |      Elementary (3 years – 6th grade)

Our nursery is open for children ages zero to three with children’s church for ages four and five. The nursery is located on the same floor as the sanctuary with viewing windows that allow parents to observe their children at any time during the service. All staff for the nursery are screened and must complete our child protection course.

It is the desire of the nursery staff to create a safe and healthy environment for all children. It is our policy to work with parents to meet the individual needs of each child and we encourage parents to tell us how we might best do that.

If you have questions concerning the nursery, please email or call the church office.

Awana Clubs

AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and comes from the Bible verse 2 Timothy 2:15:

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  • Cubbies: Lots of fun and an introduction to God’s word for preschoolers, Cubbies encourages the little ones to begin to make scripture a part of their lives through different activities.
  • Sparks:Friendship building and the gospel message for K-2nd graders, Sparks teaches children about Jesus through games and introduces small peer-group interaction.
  • T&T (Truth & Training): Evangelism and discipleship for 3rd-6th graders, T&T leads children into a deeper relationship with God and teaches them to reach out to others through mission projects.

Awana Clubs is a Christ-centered program for boys and girls that meets at 6:00 PM, Monday nights, at Charlton Baptist. We begin in October and end the Monday before Memorial Day.

We start our night off with game time. Games vary every week. After games we break off into our groups (Cubbies, Sparks, T&T). During handbook time the children work with our leaders and helpers. They go through their handbooks learning lessons and memorizing scripture. Lastly, our Sparks and T&T get together for large group time. We have lessons, videos, and trivia. To keep it fun we have theme nights and parent nights. We end the year with our Pine Car Grand Prix. We give out final awards, have the AWANA store, and race our cars.
