Set in late 1941, I’ll Be Home for Christmas is the story of the faith of a family, and a nation on the brink of World War II, preparing to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace. Most of the action takes place in the main characters’ home, with the choir providing music and drama as it is broadcast over the family radio. The music highlights the sounds of the ’40s, including swing, lush ballads, and big band songs interspersed with reenactments of radio broadcasts during that time. Original music mixed with familiar Christmas favorites form the backdrop for this memorable dramatic musical.
This period drama has moments of laughter, tears, and music that will take you back to simpler times. While the world surrounding the family mirrors todays climate of uncertainty, they are again reminded of the hope of Christmas.

Sounds exciting right?! However, the scale of this production is even larger than our last. So, in order to ensure we have the capabilities, we ask that you sign up below with your area of interest.
Don’t worry, this is not a final commitment, just a way to get a head count and ensure we have the man power. No matter how you’d like to be involved, there is a spot for you! This production will have places for singing, acting, building, props, costumes and everything in between, and we are very excited to work towards such an endeavor!
Performances will be held December 15-17th. If you hope to be part of the performance team on stage, find your area of interest for more information.
CHOIR: Rehearsals will begin September 7th, with a full read/sing through of the show. From then on rehearsals for choir members will be held on TUESDAY evenings excluding holidays. Starting the week before of the performance, dress and technical rehearsals will be added to the schedule as needed. These will not exceed 3 nights total (excluding performance nights). The choir is an integral part of the story, providing all the music for the “radio.” We hope to have a full and robust sound, so anyone can join! No audition necessary! This group is recommended for ages 12+.
SOLOISTS: Rehearsals for soloists will be the same nights as choir rehearsals, as well as a couple Thursday nights to rehearse “character.” Soloists will portray radio personalities from the choir and “perform” their solos as characters such as the crooner Frankie Donatella and the Sanderson Sisters. If you prefer singing, but are willing to put a little extra character into your performance, this is an area for you! Needed are at least 5 women and 3 men. Depending on interest in this area, auditions may be requested.
ACTORS: Beginning September 7th, rehearsals for the acting portions of the show will be held on THURSDAY evenings, 6-8 pm. Starting the week before of the performance, dress and technical rehearsals will be added to the schedule as needed. These will not exceed 3 nights total (excluding performance nights). Due to the limited amount of characters in this show, auditions will be necessary to find the right place for each person! Nervous about the idea of auditioning? Don’t worry! It will be an afternoon of low pressure theatre games, some reading from the script, and chatting! No need to come prepared with anything, except an eager attitude!
Rather work behind the scenes? This period drama will have plenty of opportunities to work creatively with building sets, finding/assembling period costumes, dressing the stage, and running technical aspects! Please know that while rehearsal attendance for this group will not be required, any and all involved in the show are welcome to be present as much as they’d like!
So what are you waiting for? Sign up below, and get ready to ring in the holiday season by worshiping the Lord using some of His most gracious gifts: creativity, music, and fellowship!
